A man found dead near a homeless encampment in the Willowbrook area of Los Angeles earlier this week has been identified as former NFL player Kevin Johnson, according to multiple reports.
Johnson’s body was discovered early Wednesday morning in the 1300 block of East 120th Street, prompting a homicide investigation.
Sky5 was over the scene as law enforcement officials searched the encampment, which sits adjacent to an overpass.
Johnson, who is believed to have been living at the site, suffered stab wounds and blunt head trauma, TMZ reported, citing the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The motive for the killing remains unclear, and investigators have not released any suspect information.
Johnson, who was born in Los Angeles and played in the mid‑1990s for the Philadelphia Eagles and the Oakland Raiders, was 55.
