Snow storms dumped snow on both ends of the country, but how much fell varied widely. Maps show snow totals across USA.
A blanketing of several inches of snow greeted many Americans as they awoke the morning of Dec. 27 as a winter storm rolled through parts of the Northeast and New England.
In the Northeast, the storm leaves behind colder-than-usual temperatures, with another round of snowy and icy weather on the way, forecasters said.
Meanwhile, heavy snow and strong winds accompanied an atmospheric river over parts of California, leaving some mountainous locations with 4 feet or more of snow. The event also dumped inches of rain and caused flooding in other parts of the state.
