  Law enforcement is giving an update on the Nancy Guthrie case. Arizona's Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos, in an interview with NBC News, revealed new developments in the case involving the disappearance of Guthrie, the mom of " Today " anchor Savannah Guthrie. While the sheriff "absolutely" believes they are getting closer to solving the case and are hopeful Guthrie is alive, NBC reported that a dedicated team from his homicide division is working with the FBI on the search. One key clue in the case has been the backpack the suspect was wearing when he was captured on video outside Guthrie's home. The black, 25-liter "Ozark Trail Hiker Pack" backpack was identified as the private-label brand exclusively sold at Walmart. Authorities, experts say, could use that information to subpoena the retailer for a list of people who recently bought it in the greater Tucson, Arizona, area. Read more...

  Four years ago, Russia attacked Ukraine, and oil shot up 50% in a matter of weeks, north of $100 a barrel. Gasoline quickly rose from around $3.50 to $5 a gallon. That war put 3 million barrels a day of Russian crude at risk. The war with Iran stopped the flow of 20 million barrels of oil from across the Middle East almost instantly. Yet oil prices rose just 6% Monday, and gas prices aren’t expected to get close to $5 a gallon anytime soon. On Tuesday, oil rose another 7% to around $76 a barrel, and gas shot 11 cents higher to $3.11 a gallon. What changed?

  • Trump on Iran:  US President Donald Trump said most of Iran’s military installations have been “knocked out” and that new strikes today targeted Iranian leadership. • Strikes in Iran and Lebanon:  Israel said it launched strikes in Tehran and Beirut, targeting Iranian military sites and the Iran-backed group Hezbollah, as its troops intensify their push in Lebanon. Israel also struck a compound belonging to a group responsible for electing Iran’s next supreme leader, an Israeli source told . • Embassies closed:  As Iran continues to strike US targets and allies, the US has closed embassies in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Lebanon and warned Americans to leave more than a dozen countries in the region.   Actors  Zendaya and Tom Holland  have tied the knot at a secret wedding ceremony, according to Zendaya’s stylist,  Law Roach . Speaking on the red carpet at the 2026 SAG Actor Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday, Roach told media outlet Access Hollywood that “the wedding has already happened.” “You missed it,” said Roach, who has been working with Zendaya for more than a decade.   Armed police had locked down a neighbourhood in Edinburgh as they responded to a "man with a bladed weapon". A man has now been arrested. Catch up below. A man carrying knives has been arrested after two people were attacked in Edinburgh, police said. Officers said the victims were taken to hospital after being injured on Monday morning. The suspect, a black man who appeared to be in his late 30s, was allegedly seen walking around the neighbourhood carrying a large knife in each hand. He is said to have ransacked a local mini-supermarket and stabbed one council employee working as a concierge in a high-rise block. Read more...

  India and Canada will aim to conclude a free trade ⁠pact by ⁠the end of this year, says Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, as the ⁠two countries seek to boost economic ties after two years of a strained relationship. Speaking after talks with Carney, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said the two countries would soon finalise a “comprehensive economic partnership” which is expected to increase  bilateral trade  to $50bn by 2030 from nearly $9bn in 2024-25.   Three United States fighter jets were “mistakenly” shot down over Kuwait, the US military has said, amid Washington’s joint offensive with the Israeli military against Iran. Videos that emerged on Monday showed a US F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jet spinning and spiralling downwards with its tail on fire and smoke trailing behind it.   Pakistan has called in the military and imposed a three-day curfew in some areas following deadly protests over the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in a joint  United States-Israeli attack  on Saturday. At least 24 people were killed and dozens injured in clashes between protesters and security forces across the country on Sunday, prompting authorities to tighten security around the US embassy and consulates.   Tehran, Iran  – Huge air strikes by the United States and Israel continue to hit Tehran and other cities as the Iranian establishment ponders its future while launching projectiles across the region. The capital was rocked numerous times on Sunday after a series of attacks hit multiple neighbourhoods, with the Israeli army saying military centres were among the targets.   The suspect who opened fire in a packed  Austin   bar was possibly motivated by the US attacks on Iran, The New York Post reported on Sunday, citing sources. At least 14 people were wounded in the attack, and two died. The FBI is reportedly looking at the incident at Buford's on 6th Street as a terrorist act. The shooting came hours after the US and Israel announced that Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei had died in strikes in Tehran.
